da apostebet: Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba is expected to be on the sidelines for at least a month, reports the Chronicle.
What’s the problem?
da realsbet: While on international duty with DR Congo, the 23-year-old was substituted around the 60th minute of a 2-2 draw with Tunisia.
The defender is said to have picked up a hamstring injury during the World Cup qualifier, but there has not yet been official conformation over the extent of the issue.
According to the Chronicle, reports in Congo have cited team doctor Jean-Pierre Bungu Kakala as saying that Mbemba will miss his country’s qualifier against Libya on October 7, and could in total be on the treatment table for three months.
Despite the length of the defender’s absence still being unknown, it is likely that he will be ruled out of this weekend’s away game against Swansea City.
How badly will this affect Newcastle?
After a difficult run in the Championship, Mbemba has started the Premier League season well for the Magpies.
The defender featured in all three of Newcastle’s opening fixtures, and started two of them.
If the young midfielder is facing three months on the sidelines, then it disrupts his positive re-emergence at left-back and it also gives manager Rafael Benitez a headache.
The positive for the North-East outfit is that they do have options for that position in the form of Javier Manquillo, Jesus Gamez and Massadio Haidara.
However, according to Sky Sports, Benitez tried to sign Matt Targett from Southampton on deadline day last week, which suggests that the manager is not entirely satisfied with the players that he already has.
