David Lynch of The Evening Standard has tweeted some glowing comments in the direction of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain following his display against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening.
The Liverpool No.15 – who lost possession 18 times on the night – put in an energetic display against Diego Simeone’s side, delivering a wonderful cross for Gini Wijnaldum’s opener while also having two shots on target while completing two dribbles.
It was an immense performance from the England international, who was unlucky to be withdrawn by Jurgen Klopp in the 82nd minute for James Milner – something that Lynch mentions in his tweet.
Two goals from Marcos Llorente and a late strike from ex-Chelsea man Alvaro Morata saw Atletico Madrid dump the European champions out of the Champions League at Anfield, on a night where Adrian didn’t cover himself in glory following his huge extra-time mistake.
