da pinnacle: According to reports in The Telegraph, Everton are keen to sign Burnley duo Michael Keane and Andre Gray as part of a £75m summer spending spree.
What’s the word, then?
da bet7k: Well, Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is keen to significantly strengthen his squad ahead of next season after his side secured a seventh-place finish in the Premier League this term and a spot in next year’s Europa League.
The Dutchman is keen to add to his depth and also wants more quality in order for his team to try and compete for a top-four spot in the top flight.
He is said to have been impressed with the performances of both Keane and Gray as the Clarets comfortably stayed up, and he is ready to make a double swoop on the Lancashire outfit.
How well has Keane done this season?
He has been excellent.
The Burnley defence has had plenty to do this season and Keane has put in committed performance after committed performance, as well as showing strong leadership.
The 24-year-old has made 254 clearances and 68 interceptions and his form led to him receiving his first senior England call-up in March, in which he started both the friendly against Germany and the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.
What about Gray?
After scoring 23 goals in 41 Championship appearances last season to help Burnley reach the Premier League, hopes were high that Gray would score goals in his debut campaign in the English top flight – and he hasn’t disappointed.
The dynamic striker has netted nine goals in 31 league games to help the Clarets secure their spot in the Premier League for another year.
Would they be good signings for Everton?
They certainly would.
While Keane would likely be a regular starter if he decided to move to Goodison Park, Gray would likely provide some much-needed depth in the striking positions with Arouna Kone and Enner Valencia set to leave the club this summer, and with Romelu Lukaku’s future in doubt.
What’s the verdict, then?
Well, Everton look like they mean business this summer and want to get deals done early on and it’s hard to argue against the duo being decent signings as the Merseyside outfit look to push on again next season.
